Are the UK Police taking the new booster seat law seriously?

Three police forces in the UK have openly stated they will not issue fines to parents and guardians who do not adhere to the UK child car seat laws which have now been in force since September 18th 2006.

The North and south Yorkshire constabularies, along with Greater Manchester constabulary have stated they will not be fining offenders.

North and South Yorkshire police forces site the difficulties in measuring children at the roadside, along with the fact that they do not have powers to obtain information (dates of birth etc) about minors.

The Greater Manchester police force will advise parents to obtain a booster seat if they stop a car carrying children and one is not fitted, but they claim
