Free child booster seat inspections - Honolulu, Hawaii

On Saturday the 31st May 2008 (starting at 9am, finishing at 12 noon) State Farm Honolulu will host the eighth annual Child Safety Day

Along with Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition, State Farm are offering free child safety and booster seat checks by certified car seat technicians

US unveils new child seat ratings system for parents

Parents who struggle to install their child safety seats or fasten their toddlers in the back-seat chairs are receiving some new guidance from the government.

The Transportation Department said Wednesday it was revamping a consumer ratings system for child safety seats to help parents and caregivers make the best choice for their kids.

Parents are being prosecuted for ignoring Seat Belt law

Police stood idle at side of road

Children are still being put in unnecessary risk by parents by not ensuring they wear a seatbelt during car journeys.

Northampton Police have said that 41 people in 12 months have been given £30 fines for failing to ensure that their children were strapped in.

Australia lags behind UK and US with its booster seat safety laws, changes are hopefully on the way

Australian booster seat laws

Australia’s current legislations for the use of child restraint systems is restricted to infants up to the age of 1 year must travel in a properly fitted, Australian Standards-approved child restraint. Children aged 1–16 years must travel in either a child restraint or a seatbelt.

Obviously there is a huge gap from a child under 1 year old needing an appropriate child restraint…
